Albania 2017

May 12, 2017 – May 21, 2017
Polis University, Tirana. Albania

Workshop Project
The combination of parametric tools with digital fabrication technology provides a powerful methodology for architecture.  Recent technological developments have left architects overwhelmed by the opportunities and choices available.  Regardless of how architecture is generated, the outcomes can be categorized in three primary systems: forming, joining and removing.  All digital fabrication processes produce architecture in one or more of these systems.  The topic of this workshop is to study one of the three systems – forming.

Objective
The objective of the workshop is to digitally design and fabricate coordinated masonry units.  The process will include: parametrically generating masonry units, fabrication and production of CNC G-code and final formed blocks via four-part fabricated molds.

Registration
The fee for LTU or other US students: $500.  A minimum nonrefundable deposit payment of $250 is due April 1, 2017 with the final balance due on May 1, 2017
.  Payments can be made to Mary Johnson in the College of Architecture and Design, Dean’s Office A129.
